Decor objects are made from the parts of a slab that cannot be used for anything else. A bookmatched pair for a media wall leaves corners and strips, and rather than skip them K2 turns them into pieces that sell for far more per kilogram than the slab ever would — which is why these objects are worth making and why they can be offered at reasonable prices.
The range is what a lathe and a CNC can produce from a block: spheres, bowls, fruit trays, ashtrays, coasters, candle holders, small boxes and the pieces of a coffee set. Because each comes from whatever remnant was to hand, no two are identical, and a set ordered together should be cut from the same offcut if you want them to match.
Onyx is the material that suits this work best. Its translucency, which is a complication on a large wall, becomes the entire point on a 100 mm sphere held up to a lamp. Green, honey and white onyx all read differently under light and it is worth seeing them lit before choosing.
These are also the most practical thing K2 makes for anyone who wants to own a piece of a particular stone without commissioning a room. If you are considering a marble for a house and cannot decide, a bowl in that stone on your own table for a fortnight will tell you more than a sample chip.
